Cinzia Battistel was born in Milan on July 28, 1963.
She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. After relocating from Milan to a hilltop in the Marche countryside, she deepened her passion for landscapes—an interest already evident in her work as Head Set Designer for major Italian animated films and as a naturalistic illustrator.
Since 2010, she has painted landscape interpretations using watercolor, ink, and acrylic gouache on canvas or paper. Her work has been particularly well received in the United States; in 2024, she was selected for the View New Wave Exhibit and was contacted by Kevin Barry Art Advisory for large watercolor commissions.
She teaches set design and landscape design for animated film at Milan’s film school. As both author and illustrator, she has worked for 30 years with Italian and international publishers, creating children’s art books for Sole24Cultura, the Mudec Museum, and Gallerie d’Italia—her latest, a book on Rembrandt, was produced for the U.S. She also creates graphic novels for La Lettura, the cultural supplement of Corriere della Sera.
