{"id":1360,"count":1,"description":"Luigi Rossanigo was born in 1948 in Pieve del Cairo (Pavia), Italy, in the lower Lomellina region, where Lombardy and Piedmont merge in terms of orography, history, and culture. He still lives and works there today.\r\n\r\nHis first engagement with painting\u2014and to a lesser extent, sculpture\u2014dates back to the mid-1960s, with figurative subjects. A few years later, in the early 1970s, he shifted toward Informalism, beginning a spatial exploration whose results would fully emerge twenty years later.\r\n\r\nDuring the rest of the 1970s, following a brief period influenced by Arte Povera, and throughout the 1980s, his focus turned to the development of surrealist themes in painting, graphics, and sculpture, with notable results for their originality and clarity of sign.\r\n\r\nFrom 1988 onward, his interaction with artists from Carrara\u2014particularly Luciano Massari\u2014led him decisively toward sculpture.
