Cristina Patti, artistically known as Crista, was born in Palermo in 1982, where she lives and works as a painter, jewelry designer, and art teacher. In 2004, she graduated with highest honors from the Picasso Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, defending her thesis titled “Psyche and Sentiment”. She later obtained a qualification as an expert in engraving techniques. Psyche and sentiment would become the focal point around which her pictorial works would develop. The leitmotif of her paintings is the figure drawn in plastic, fluid, dreamlike poses, permeated by evocative sensuality. Her favorite themes are Greek myths as well as dreams where kindred souls meet and merge into a cosmic unity. The artist imprints the motions of the human soul on canvas, abstract feelings that take on the appearance of bodies, sometimes entangled, sometimes floating in a perpetual dance in a space without time and dimension. The influences of Greek art, as well as those of the Vienna Secession artists, Post-Impressionists, and twentieth-century Italian art merge into a new graphic and pictorial style that makes the artist recognizable and unique in her stylistic research. The artist has exhibited in major Italian cities and abroad.
